Auf der Suche nach dem schönsten Schwarz.

Ich wollte ein wirklich tiefes Schwarz mischen. Ein Schwarz, das einfach schön ist, aber gleichzeitig so tief, dass es fast etwas Magnetisches bekommt.

Während ich mit der Farbe experimentiert habe, wurde mir bewusst, dass das tiefste, schönste Schwarz eigentlich aus vielen verschiedenen Farben besteht. Es geht darum, die richtige Mischung zu finden, bis all diese Farben gemeinsam zu Schwarz werden.

Wir denken bei Schwarz oft, dass es eigentlich keine richtige Farbe ist. Schwarz ist einfach Schwarz. Auch schwierige Phasen beschreiben wir als dunkle Zeiten oder sagen, es fühlt sich an, als wären wir in ein schwarzes Loch gefallen, an einen Ort, an dem es kein Licht und keine Lebendigkeit zu geben scheint.

Und gleichzeitig kann gerade in diesen dunklen Phasen so viel Leben stecken. Neue Erfahrungen, Gefühle, Perspektiven und Erkenntnisse. Wir kommen nur selten als genau derselbe Mensch aus ihnen heraus, der wir vorher waren.

Dieses Bild ist eine Auseinandersetzung mit genau diesem Gedanken: mit der Schönheit und Tiefe, die im Schwarz liegen.

Hinter jedem schwarzen Kreis liegt eine Vielzahl von Farben. Vielleicht sieht man sie auf den ersten Blick nicht, aber sie sind da.

Looking for the most beautiful black.

I wanted to create this really deep black. A black that is simply beautiful, but so deep that it almost feels magnetic.

And while exploring the color, I realized that the deepest, most beautiful black is actually made from many different colors. It is about finding the right mix until they all come together as black.

We often think of black as not really being a color. It is just black. We describe difficult periods as dark times, or say that it feels like falling into a black hole — a place where there seems to be no light and no aliveness.

But at the same time, there can be so much life within these dark periods. New experiences, feelings, perspectives and wisdom. We rarely come out of them as exactly the same person we were before.

This painting is an exploration of that idea: the beauty and depth within black.

Behind every black circle lies a multitude of colors. You may not see them at first, but they are there.
